There are two ways to launch a glider
Aerotow
A light aircraft
tows the glider into the air and is able to take the glider to the height and
location required. Using aerotow
we can guarantee a flight of about 30 mins and show you more of the local countryside.
Winch
A powerful purpose built winch is positioned at the other end of the runway to the glider - almost a mile away. A steel cable is attached to the glider and wound in by the winch. The glider generally gets to a height equal to a third of the available cable and is a cost effective way of getting in the air. A winch launch is exhilarating, with a 0 to 60 time of 5 seconds or so and a very rapid ascent.
